Barrier Alleviating Fund
QCrypt 2026 Barrier Alleviating Fund
Call for Applications
QCrypt 2026 is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the Barrier Alleviating Fund, an initiative designed to help researchers overcome logistical or accessibility-related obstacles that may limit their ability to attend the conference.
The fund supports members of the quantum cryptography community who may face challenges such as caregiving responsibilities, logistics needs, or other circumstances that create barriers to participation. All participants are welcome to apply while funds remain available; priority is given to invited, tutorial and contributed speakers.
Examples of eligible expenses include:
- Travel support for a caregiver accompanying a participant
- Childcare costs during the conference
- Funding for accessibility accommodations (e.g., transcription services, mobility support)
- Other reasonable expenses that address a barrier to attending QCrypt 2026. Please note, purely financial barriers are not the target of this call.
Applicants are encouraged to outline their specific circumstances and the type of support that would enable their participation.
How to Apply
Please submit a brief PDF proposal including:
- Name, email, affiliation, and position
- Link to homepage or short CV
- Description of the barrier and the support requested
- Overview of anticipated expenses and total amount requested.
Send applications to:
Anne Broadbent, Chair of the Local Organizing Committee
Application Review
Applications are reviewed while funds are available and on a rolling basis by a confidential committee of QCrypt 2026 organizers. In order to benefit from priority consideration, contributed speakers are requested to apply by May 22nd.
Our Commitment
QCrypt is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and accessible conference environment. The Barrier Alleviating Fund is one of our initiatives to enable full participation in the scientific program.
We warmly encourage eligible participants to apply.
