Biography of the Artist

Ciaran Head-Smith is a twenty-year-old student who is currently in his fourth year of a bachelor’s degree in Architectural Studies at Carleton University. Ciaran is a member of Opaskwayak Cree Nation, he is a self-taught artist who is passionate about expressing his culture through art and design. Ciaran specializes in contemporary acrylic and digital artwork. He strives to incorporate traditional techniques and practices into his creations and architectural designs.

Logo Design Rationale

Ciaran Head-Smith developed the design by exploring how best to express both the beauty of Indigenous culture and the QCrypt sheep mascot, using bright colours and florals to symbolize growth, and harmony with nature.
